Peace in a Turbulent World

8/30/2024, water L, 65stingray, 2:45-4:30

Wind: 7mph from SW
OC: 7

Subtle yellows emerging in trees
Soft rustling of grasses and leaves along banks
1-2 channel under bridge getting narrower
1N islands growing bigger
Few leaves float quietly on water’s surface
Choreographed turtle slides from island rocks into water
New cormorant babies! Now family of five
Mother spreads wings over floating babies with hawk flying above
No sign of geese… and no purple martins?!?
Brilliant sparkling of wind-textured waters
Almost no rattling of cicadas now
Gentle ring of crickets in the background
Constant soft brushing of dry leaves in the breeze
Even the winds and breezes are hot
Curious green heron stays in the tree
Big snake slithers up the rocks under bridge
Lovely petrichor drifting in
So much peace in such a turbulent world
