Gorgeous, breezy, sunny day
Yellow and bright green dappled ceiling
Persistent hollow knocking, creaking
Creek only trickles now, much drier than usual
Tiny red velvety mite spotted from afar by the contrast against green mossy background
Fallen leaves sprinkle trail (about 10-15% coverage)
Cricket’s murmur: no cicadas
Occasional leaf drops quietly, effortlessly
Tiny bees and wasps thriving on goldenrod and snakeroot flowers
Oh – 2 subdued groups of cicadas (on far red ridge) take turns with occasional quiet rattling
-they haven’t all disappeared yet after all
Still trees stand quietly
Cricket’s ring in the prairies
Giant bumble bees collecting
Pinks, roses, yellows, greens, tans and browns
Can feel the moisture being pulled up by the sun from the thick brush of the prairie
Trees lining prairie emerging yellows and hints of orange
Such intoxicating scents
Just like that – ensconced once again back into the forest
Rustling, collecting, scampering in the leaves of chipmunks, squirrels and deer
Occasional thunks of dropping acorns and walnuts
Awesome, beautiful, invigorating
