Gorgeous bright crisp morning
Merlin id is a game-changer – putting names to the many calls and faces
(-like Eastern Towhee, and Eastern Wood-Pewee, Red-eyed Vireo, Wood Thrush and Scarlett Tanager)
Gentle murmur of crickets
Soft rush of creek below
Woodpeckers of every register echo throughout the forest
Sun filters through green leaves and dapples the trail
Sweet new floral scents
Pollen drifts with perseverance
Soft gentle crunch of trail underfoot
Seed strings drape like tinsel over plants, trees and trails
Breeze gently rustles leaves
Trees speak through creeks
Crickets now softly sing in the sweet scented prairie
Prairie grass growing tall
Daffodil leaves now flattened, yellowing and sinking back into the Earth
Deep soothing thunk of rocks when crossing creeks
Squirrel sits upright on log, nibbling a nut with hands
Such new energy, so filled with life
