Gentle breezes rustle leaves
Occasional chorus of cicadas ramps up
Sun brightens leaves to yellow green
Iridescent green bugs fly and hover on the trail
Wafting whiffs of mushroom
Lovely petrichor lifts from below
Prairie filled with every kind of grass black-eyed susans, bergamot and tiny daisies
1000 varieties of new vibrant plants
Insects and grasshoppers buzz past
Gorgeous dragonflies of every kind
Woodpecker knocks diligently in the distance
Every type and size of bee busily collecting from all the flowers
Butterflies also busy on Bergamot
New mushroom blooms on decaying, life-giving logs
Scent of fresh fallen wood lingers along the ridge
Red velvet mite spotted on rich brown wood
Wood thrushes call to each other hopefully
So much life in every square inch – just need to look
